We got an email yesterday from Manoff Market Gardens saying that they were going to begin pressing apple cider that morning and it would be available in the store after lunchtime. Having never tasted truly fresh apple cider, I made a point of swinging by yesterday afternoon. When we got home and poured the juice, it was revelatory. Suddenly, I understood Rainbow Dash’s obsession in that My Little Pony episode. Sweet but not heavy, with a rich, nuanced flavor that left you wanting a little bit more. I wonder how much of that has to do with the fact that it is unpasteurized. It was truly indulgent, and I’ll definitely be visiting the market regularly for as long as cider season lasts.
