When we began tinkering with angel biscuits for doughnut land, I wanted to find a distinct name to differentiate the doughnut. Sure, angel biscuits are distinctive. But biscuits at a doughnut shop? I was stuck on the angel. Angel quickly led me to pop culture and the Kevin Smith film “Dogma.” I am always up for an alliteration. I thought, who wouldn’t become hooked on the name Dogma Doughnuts? I ran my story by a few colleagues. The quick consensus was: who the hell would get my connectivity-created concoction? Call them Angel Doughnuts and be done. The name Dogma Doughnuts didn’t last long. But the story was well worth the mental meandering.
