I had an idea. I saw a tree. Then I wanted to see what half a tree bare and half fully in bloom looked like. I searched the internet and saw many pictures. Many of the drawings depicted roots. The roots reminded me of a whale’s tail. I saw a whale’s tail in the trunk of the tree. What if the pictures were combined? What if the roots were the tail? I set about researching what a whale’s tail looked like. I searched, collected, and combined images in my head. I set about sketching. The first sketch was rough. So was the second. I continued to sketch. Then I added some color. The drawing is improving. The details are becoming finer. The idea is becoming real.
