One of the reasons why we love lovage so much—beyond its flavor, is for its resilience. No matter how often we try to kill it, and it happens several times a season, it comes back strong and healthy. I’m always amazed at the way it can recover from any hardship. Here you can see the remnants of the older plant and the healthy new leaves that sprang up from the middle. All it needs is a bit of sun and water to thrive. If only we could thrive on so little.
At times like these when we are forced to take a good look at what we really need to enjoy life, it’s important to see that we can all thrive with so much less than what we have. Let’s be thankful for all our extras because weather conditions, natural disasters, and catastrophes of our own creation mean that many, many people no longer have even the basic supplies they need to get by. Share the love and give a little something, in whatever way you can, to those who are less fortunate than you are today.
