As much as we enjoy selling out, it doesn’t always happen. We never sell day-old doughnuts, so sometimes we make doughnut bread pudding. It’s a good use for leftover doughnuts, but we don’t use it very often at the shop. So we began to think about other alternatives. Fortunately for us, there is a family that works at the market who raises chickens. We give them leftover doughnuts to feed to their chickens, and we get fresh eggs. The right solution is the one that works at the right time.
