Change This is a website designed to promote the dissemination of ideas. According to their manifesto:
1. ChangeThis releases manifestos. We share them with bloggers, with influential readers, and with our subscribers.
2. If the manifestos strike a chord, they’ll spread. If you don’t feel moved, don’t spread them. The bad ideas will just sit there. The good ones will move.
3. As the manifestos spread through our culture, they’ll leave change in their wake. Changed minds are rare but powerful. The hope is that if we change enough minds, the project will be worth the effort.
The reason I mention this is because I have a proposal being considered at the moment. It can be found here. It’s about taking an active role in leadership. It’s about taking action and leading by example. The idea is something that coalesced for me after years in the restaurant and hotel business. It’s amazing how many people there are in management positions in the service industry that don’t lead well and don’t believe in themselves or the establishment that they represent. Fortunately, the tide is turning, and things are changing for the better. I believe that taking even the smallest actions can make a person feel better about themselves and thereby make them a better leader. By taking action, you give the people around you something concrete to believe in. I took action by writing a proposal. If you like what I’ve written, please vote for it here.
